Classic Caesar Salad

For the Salad: – 1 head of romaine lettuce, washed and chopped – 1/2 cup crouton – 1/4 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese

For the Dressing: – 1/4 cup mayonnaise – 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese – 1 tablespoon lemon juice – 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard – 1 clove garlic, minced – 2 anchovy fillets, mashed (optional) – Salt and black pepper to taste

Prepare the Dressing: – In a small bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, grated Parmesan cheese, lemon juice, Dijon mustard, minced garlic, and mashed anchovy fillets (if using). Season with salt and black pepper to taste. Set aside.

Assemble the Salad: – In a large salad bowl, add the chopped romaine lettuce. – Sprinkle the croutons over the lettuce.

Add the Dressing: – Pour the Caesar dressing over the salad ingredients in the bowl. Toss gently to coat the lettuce and croutons evenly with the dressing.

Garnish with Parmesan: – Sprinkle the freshly grated Parmesan cheese over the top of the salad.

Serve: – Serve the classic Caesar salad immediately as a side dish or add grilled chicken or shrimp to make it a complete meal.
